Final Move Out

As of Thursday, May 5, the library staff has officially moved out of the old BC3 library for the final time during renovation. The next time the staff is back in the BC3 library building, it will be in order to move in to the new Heaton Family Learning Commons!

Until that time, the library staff can be found in BH 186, on the lower level of the Business & Health Building. Though we are still in the process of moving into this space temporarily, we will have access to our normal phone extensions once settled.

A final farewell is bid to the old library space as we look forward to the new space we will move into this summer!

Updated Summer Information

We would like to remind students and faculty once more that the BC3 library will be closed as of Friday, May 6.

Also, our temporary location during the Summer has changed! After May 6, the library staff will be working out of the Business & Health building, in BH 186. During the summer, library staff will be present in this location each day that the college is open, 7:30am - 4:00pm. Student computer use and printing will still be available as always in the BLC, but students needing assistance with reference questions or library resources can visit the library staff downstairs in BH 186. During this time, staff will still be reachable by our current phone extensions, posted on the Contact page.

During June, July, and August, library staff will be transitioning into the new building, so all staff may not be available at all times, but we will make every effort to meet the needs of students and faculty as much as possible.

The Heaton Family Learning Commons opens the week of August 22! We thank you for your patience and support during this time of transition and are eager to enter the final stretch!

Dan Kiefer Photo Update 4/25

There is little to be reported on behalf of the library staff this week. We are still preparing for our imminent move and would like to remind students and faculty yet again that we will be closed on Friday May 6, the last day of finals. Up until that point, we will do everything in our power to meet the needs of students and faculty at the end of the semester.

Dan Kiefer Photo Update 4/18

This past week, the library staff had the privilege of touring the renovated areas of the Heaton Learning Commons, and we are all enormously excited for the completion of this project! With carpeting laid, fixtures placed, and glass installed, the renovation is quickly coming to resemble a nearly-finished project. As before, we are all pleased by the high degree of natural lighting throughout the space.

With the concrete steps in place out front, even the exterior of the building is beginning to look inviting and new.

The library staff is in preparation for our next move to accommodate the final stages of the construction, but for the time being we are still open and accessible during our normal hours, although our offered resources continue to decline with each day as we begin packing reference materials in preparation for the move. For the time being, the computer lab is still open, but we do remind faculty and students alike that we will be closed May 6, the last day of Finals.

BC3 Library Closing - Friday, May 6 (Last Day of Finals)

Attention students, staff, and faculty!

The BC3 library will be CLOSED on Friday, May 6, the last day of finals. Construction crews will be tearing down temporary walls and dismantling the computer lab at this time. All students should be aware that any work that needs to be done in the library should be completed prior to Friday, May 6. For students needing the use of a computer on May 6, the Business Learning Center will be open from 7:30am – 3:30pm.

Following this, the BC3 library staff will be moving to the Con-Ed building for the remainder of the renovation, with an expected completion date in June. During this time, students can return any borrowed library items to Con-Ed (Rm# 15) or to the Business Learning Center (BLC). The BLC’s summer hours, after finals week, will be Monday – Thursday, 7:00am – 3:30pm.
Details about library service over the summer will follow.

Dan Kiefer Photo Update 4/11

As we draw nearer to start of May, the library staff has been preparing for yet another move to accommodate the renovation. As much of the staff and faculty on campus may already know, many of the library's furniture pieces are now up for auction on GovDeals.com and we are preparing to see many more removed soon. Keep an eye out for emails from Dottie Los if you are interested and feel free to stop by any time to take a look!

This period of transition, like all of its kind, has its own unique difficulties and challenges. We expect to be moving out of the library for the last time at the beginning of May, so that construction can continue in the corner of the building which we currently occupy. For the moment, we are preparing for that move and doing our best to meet the needs of students and faculty in the meantime.

Nothing much to report this week from the BC3 library. Work continues on the stairs and finishes as seen below, and in the meantime we continue to serve a steady flow of students in and out of the library throughout the day.

Dan Kiefer Photo Update 3/28

With the carpeting installed upstairs, it's beginning to look quite cozy here in the Heaton Learning Commons! It's certainly a welcome change from the orange carpet of the old Beck Library.

The central staircase is on its way in now, with framework already in place. All in all, progress continues at a steady and encouraging rate.
